Project Mission

Mission of the IES 20 Years Project

As we approach the Institute of Education Sciences’ (IES) 20th anniversary in 2022, we seek to understand how IES-funded efficacy and effectiveness trials have contributed to our fundamental knowledge and to advances in the education sciences. We will document the effects of interventions as well as the direct and indirect impact of each trial on practice, design of future interventions, development of human capital for education research, and research methods.

As the Principal Investigator of an IES trial, we need your help to fully understand how your trial fits in the larger education research landscape. We are interested in learning:

  • The outcomes you investigated and the results of your study
  • How the results of your study impacted educational practice (directly or indirectly)
  • How the results of your study informed future studies
  • Successes and challenges of conducing an efficacy or effectiveness study
Our results will help inform IES how to better support researchers and, more generally, the results will help us understand how to better execute large trials. Upon completion of our study, we will hold a webinar for participants where we will present our findings and ask for your feedback.
